These pages contain links to some of the stories patients and there families have shared with us about their journey with tracheostomies. All of the stories here are presented with the permission of those involved. Whilst it is often a shock to find out that you need a tracheostomy or a laryngectomy, finding out more information about what it is like (as a patient and a carer) and what you can do to prepare yourself, can really help.

The NTSP actively works with patients and their families to ensure that we listen to concerns and feedback (good and bad) so that our projects and resources can be focussed on improving the patient experience. We hope that these pages can also provide stimulus to healthcare professionals as they seek to improve patient care.

You can find out more by viewing the documents linked to this page and the video above describes John's journey with his laryngectomy.
