The 'Can't Intubate Can't Oxygenate' (CICO) scenario is one of the most difficult situations for anyone involved in airway management. Thankfully CICO is a rare event, with many doctors regularly involved in airway care not seeing one in their entire career.

It is becoming increasingly recognized that uncommon highly stressful situations benefit from a standardized approach that can be learnt easily with equipment that is already familiar to the user.

This session aims to:

• Explore human factor obstacles to successful outcomes during emergency scenarios
• Review the Difficult Airway Society's (DAS) failed intubation algorithms
• Describe indications for front of neck airway (FONA)
• Detail a step-by-step run through of surgical cricothyroidotomy
• Review other equipment options for FONA, including percutaneous options
